About Myself
What started off as just taking care of a few dogs and horses for friends and neighbors, grew into their friends and neighbors, and has now become a business. I have been pet sitting for 6 years now. My background is in horses. I have been riding and competing for 16 years and worked at a training facility for 10 years. I also interned through KEMI at a thoroughbred farm in Kentucky for the summer, prepping yearlings for the big Keenland sale held every September. I graduated from UC Davis in 2005 with a BS degree in Animal Science and Management (pre-vet) There I got lots of hands on experience with a variety of animals and livestock. I love everyone's animals as if they were my own. I have the confidence to work with most animals: large, small, and exotic. I can handle pets with special needs and have experience in administering medications.
I recently decided that having a career in horses wasn't the best choice for me and I am now transitioning into a career in nursing. I am back in school and will graduate from CSU East Bay in Dec 2011. I see this as just an expansion of my skills and I still am caring for pets while in school and will continue to do so even as a nurse. Horses and animals are still my passion, but I am now choosing to keep them as a hobby.
In addition to competing with my horse, I am now entering the world of dog sports with my welsh corgi, Sherman. We are becoming involved in the world of dog agility and enjoy it very much.
